Members

The Judicial Commission consists of six official members, being the heads of jurisdiction of the State's five courts and the President of the Court of Appeal, together with four members appointed by the Governor of New South Wales. Of the appointed members, one is a legal practitioner and the other three are persons of high standing in the community. The President of the Commission is the Chief Justice of New South Wales.

 

Official Members

The Honourable Chief Justice Spigelman AC
was appointed Chief Justice of New South Wales on 25 May 1998, and has occupied the position of President of the Commission from that date.
The Honourable Justice Allsop
was appointed President of the Court of Appeal on 2 June 2008.
The Honourable Justice Boland
was appointed President of the Industrial Relations Commission on 9 April 2008.
The Honourable Justice Preston
was appointed Chief Judge of the Land and Environment Court on 14 November 2005.
The Honourable Justice Blanch AM
was appointed Chief Judge of the District Court on 13 December 1994.
His Honour Chief Magistrate Henson
was appointed Chief Magistrate on 28 August 2006.

 

Appointed Members

Dr Judith Cashmore
has been a member of the Commission since 1 December 2004 and was reappointed for three years from 19 August 2009.
Dr Michael Dodson AM
has been a member of the Commission since 4 April 2001 and was reappointed for three years from 16 May 2007.
Mr John Griffiths SC
was appointed a member of the Commission for three years from 1 July 2009.
Ms Renata Kaldor AO
was appointed a member of the Commission for three years from 19 August 2009.
