Complaints

One of the responsibilities of the Judicial Commission is to deal with complaints made against judicial officers. The Commission’s function is to investigate a complaint, not to discipline a judicial officer. The goal of the complaints function is to promote judicial accountability through effective complaint handling.

The Commission can only investigate complaints about matters that concern or may concern the ability or behaviour of a judicial officer. It does not deal with allegations of criminal conduct or corruption against judicial officers nor any matter that may be reviewed by a court of appeal. If you are unsure whether the Commission can deal with your complaint, please phone or visit the Commission to discuss the matter.

A complaint may be made by a member of the public or, alternatively, referred to the Commission by the Attorney General.
