Where to seek legal advice

The Judicial Commission of NSW does not provide legal advice or research services to the public.

Our publications can be accessed on this website, and public access to the sentencing statistics is available at the State Library of NSW.

The following are some of the agencies that may be able to assist in providing legal advice:

  • Law Access: Legal information is available online (www.lawaccess.nsw.gov.au) or phone the toll-free number 1300 888 529.
  • Community Legal Centres: Check the White Pages or online (www.clcnsw.org.au) for your local community legal centre.
  • Legal Information Access Centre (LIAC): at the State Library of NSW (http://legalanswers.sl.nsw.gov.au/) provides legal information including assistance to students and teachers.
  • The Law Society of NSW: provides guidance on finding a solicitor (www.lawsociety.com.au).
