Tattoo Parlours Act 2012 No 32


As amended to Tattoo Parlours Amendment Act 2017 (No 14). Commenced 1 July 2017. Current to 24 August 2018.


Proceedings for an offence against the Act or regulations may be dealt with summarily before the Local Court or the Supreme Court in its summary jurisdiction: s 34. The maximum monetary penalty in the Local Court is 200 penalty units despite any higher maximum penalty: s 34(2).

6(1), (3) Tattooing businesses must be licensed. Permit tattooing business
to be carried on at premises on the person’s behalf

Continuing penalties may apply

7(1), (1A) Tattooists must be licensed 1st off 50 pu; 2nd or subseq off 100 pu    
8(1) A person must not employ unlicensed tattooist Corp 100 pu; Indiv 50 pu Continuing penalties may apply    
10(5) Failure to comply with licence condition 20 pu    
11(6) Failure to advise Director General of change to information provided before licence application is determined 20 pu    
25, 26 Failure to return suspended/cancelled licence to the Director-General 20 pu
